Gear Up for Every Mile Daytona Helmets at Daniel Smart MFG
Riding a motorcycle is more than transportation — it is a way of life, a daily commitment to the road and everything it brings. But that freedom only holds its value when your head is protected by gear you can trust. Daytona Helmets have been built with exactly that purpose: combining real-world rider safety with the kind of style that belongs on a cruiser, a chopper, or a Harley-Davidson and not in a race paddock.
At Daniel Smart MFG, we carry the full Daytona collection—from the iconic Skull Cap half shell to the carbon fiber C6 full-face—every single one meeting or exceeding U.S. Department of Transportation FMVSS 218 safety standards and ECE 22.05 or 22.06. Whether you are carving city streets, heading out on a long touring ride, or just looking for an affordable DOT-certified helmet that won't blow your budget, the right Daytona is right here.
The Full Daytona Motorcycle Helmet Collection
Every model in our Daytona lineup is selected for a reason. Here is a close look at each helmet, what makes it built for certain riders, and where it earns its place on the road.
Daytona Skull Cap — The World's Smallest DOT Half Shell Helmet
The Daytona Skull Cap is the helmet that put Daytona on the map, and for good reason. It is widely recognized as one of the smallest and lightest DOT-approved half-shell helmets ever made. The slim-line design sits close to the head, eliminating the oversized "mushroom look" that has long plagued budget half helmets, and it does this while still passing every U.S. DOT impact resistance, penetration resistance, and retention strength test.
Three separate shell sizes ensure a proportionate fit no matter your head size, and the custom-formed EPS interior offers extreme comfort on both short city rides and long open-highway days. The moisture-wicking interior fabric keeps your head cooler and drier, and the nylon Y-strap retention system with sliding adjuster keeps the helmet secure without any fumbling.
Available with or without a removable snap-on mini scoop visor, the Skull Cap ships in an impressive range of colors and graphics, including Dull Black, Hi-Gloss Black, and Grey Carbon Fiber solids, as well as graphic editions: Barbed Wire Heart, Butterfly, Guns, Pistons Skull, Purple Rose, USA, Skull Wings, 2nd Amendment, and Freedom 2.0. Every purchase includes a free head wrap and a cloth drawstring bag.
Best for:Cruiser riders, Harley-Davidson riders, city riding, biker helmet style with everyday usability. Sizes: 3XS – 4XL
Certification:D.O.T. FMVSS 218
Daytona Glide — Modular Flip-Up with Bluetooth Readiness
The Daytona Glide is the helmet for riders who refuse to choose between full coverage and open-face convenience. Its modular flip-up design lets you lift the chin guard with one hand, making it practical at gas stations, toll booths, and coffee stops without removing the helmet entirely. Snap it back down, and you have a solid full-coverage shell protecting your face on the highway.
The Glide comes equipped with a dual visor system — an outer aerodynamic shield and an inner retractable sun shield — giving you visibility control in changing light conditions without stopping to swap visors. Bluetooth-ready cut-outs mean you can install your preferred communication system and stay connected with your group throughout any ride. The quick one-finger chin guard release, moisture-wicking removable interior, and adjustable chin and forehead ventilation make the Glide one of the most feature-complete helmets in the Daytona catalog.
Available at Daniel Smart MFG in Hi-Gloss Black, Dull Black, Gun Metal Grey Metallic, Black Cherry, and Shark Blu graphic editions.
Best for:Touring riders, long-distance highway riding, communication system users, and modular helmet shoppers.
Certification: D.O.T. FMVSS 218
Daytona Cruiser — Open-Face 3/4 Helmet for Every Kind of Rider
The Daytona Cruiser delivers the classic open-face riding experience with the safety backing of full DOT certification. As a 3/4 shell helmet, it wraps around the sides and back of the head while leaving the face open, giving riders the airflow and visibility that makes city riding feel alive, while still providing meaningful head protection that a novelty helmet simply cannot match.
The Cruiser's aerodynamic visor design handles wind, rain, and sunray protection, and the moisture-wicking interior keeps comfort high on warm days. The adjustable nylon straps provide a secure, customizable fit across head sizes.
Available at Daniel Smart MFG in Hi-Gloss Black, Dull Black, and the Flying Aces graphic edition.
Best for:Casual riders, city riding, cruiser and chopper bikes, riders who prefer the open-face feel without sacrificing DOT protection.
The C6 Daytona helmet is one of the premium helmets in their collection, and there are good reasons for that. This helmet is built with a genuine carbon fiber outer shell. The carbon shell makes these helmets exceptionally lightweight, which helps reduce neck strain and fatigue, especially when you are on long rides. These helmets are considered one of the most impact-resistant helmets in the collection. Unlike ABS shell helmets, carbon fiber distributes the impact force more efficiently.
The C6 carries both DOT FMVSS 218 and ECE (European Conformity) certification, which makes it suitable for road use in the USA. These certifications are recognized internationally. The features, like an aerodynamic full-face shell, reduce wind drag on highways, and the anti-scratch visor with anti-fog treatment maintains visibility in high-humidity conditions.
Available at Daniel Smart MFG in Grey Carbon Fiber.
Best for: Highway riding, long-distance touring, premium helmet buyers, riders who want the lightest certified full-face protection available.
The Daytona Viper full-face helmet offers complete coverage and protection with dual DOT and ECE certification. This helmet is for riders who want full coverage of a protective shell without going to the C6 price. The functional features of Daytona Viper include an anti-scratch outer shield, a retention system, and a strong outer shell. These make them suitable for highway riding or longer trips where you need to go high-speeding and wind forces are a real concern.
Available at Daniel Smart MFG in dull black.
Best for:Riders who need full-face coverage on a practical budget, highway riding, and dual-standard compliance.
Certification:D.O.T. FMVSS 218 + ECE
What Makes Daytona Helmets Stand Out?
Daytona helmets are built for riders who take both safety and style seriously. Across the entire collection, various functional features set them apart from standard helmets and budget-friendly options in the market.
Slim Line Construction:The Skull caps of the helmets are slim-line shells that cover the head evenly, unlike half-helmet designs with a mushroom look. This is achieved through three progressive shell sizes fitted to the same certified safety liner, so the helmet protects you correctly at the size that fits your head.
Moisture-Wicking Interior Fabric:All Daytona helmets use a high-quality moisture-wicking liner that wicks sweat away from your skin. It keeps you cooler and more comfortable on hot days and longer rides. The liner fabric is removable on most of the models, which allows easy maintenance of hygiene through washing.
One-Finger Quick-Release Chin Lock:The quick-release chin strap mechanism on Daytona flip-up and full-face models lets you remove or adjust your helmet with a single finger movement. You can operate your helmet easily without fumbling, which helps during a quick stop.
Adjustable Ventilation System: The Glide's chin and forehead vents are fully adjustable, which allows good airflow in every riding condition. You can adjust the vent channels according to the weather, as one helmet can adapt to both hot summer highway rides and cold mountain passes.
Dual Visor System:On the Glide, the combination of an outer aerodynamic shield and an inner retractable sun visor means you never have to choose between tinted and clear visibility. The inner visor drops at the flick of a lever and retracts just as quickly.
Anti-Scratch and Anti-Fog Visors: Performance Daytona models feature an anti-scratch coating on all shields and anti-fog treatment where visibility matters most, such as the full-face Viper and C6. Compatible Pinlock anti-fog lens inserts are also available as accessories for riders in wet or cold climates.
Bluetooth-Ready Design: The Daytona Glide is engineered with Bluetooth-compatible cut-outs, making it easy to integrate your preferred motorcycle communication system without modification. Stay connected on group rides or take calls without ever stopping.
DOT and ECE Dual Certification:The C6 and Viper carry both U.S. DOT and European ECE certification, making them among the most comprehensively tested helmets in the Daytona range. DOT certification confirms the helmets have passed impact resistance, penetration resistance, and retention strength tests under FMVSS 218. ECE adds an independent European conformity standard to that foundation.
Full-Face vs. 3/4 vs. Half Shell — Choosing the Right Daytona Helmet
Every riding style calls for a different level of coverage, and Daytona makes excellent options across all three helmet types. Here is how to think about which is right for your riding:
Half Shell (Skull Cap):The lightest option, preferred by cruiser and Harley-Davidson riders who value the classic biker helmet look. The Skull Cap offers DOT-certified head protection with minimal weight and maximum freedom of feel. It is the smart choice for city riding, short trips, and riders who prioritize breathability and a low-profile fit.
3/4 Open Face (Cruiser):The middle ground. A 3/4 helmet gives you side, top, and rear coverage — more protection than a half shell — while keeping your face fully open. Riders who want the wind-in-the-face experience but need more protection than a skull cap will find the Cruiser ideal for city commuting, scooter use, and casual weekend rides.
Modular Flip-Up (Glide): For riders who want the coverage of a full-face helmet but need the practical flexibility to open the chin guard without removing the helmet. The Glide is the touring rider's best friend — full protection on the highway, convenient access at stops.
Full-Face (C6 / Viper):The highest level of coverage. Recommended for highway riding, longer trips, and any situation where wind force, debris, and high-speed impacts are a real concern. The C6's carbon fiber construction makes it lighter than a typical ABS full-face, so you get maximum protection without the neck strain associated with heavier helmets.
Daytona Helmets for Men, Women, and Youth Riders
The Daytona lineup at Daniel Smart Mfg is built for all riders. The Skull Cap's graphics selection includes options that are clearly gender-specific — Purple Rose, Butterfly, and Barbed Wire Heart are popular with women riders, while 2nd Amendment, Freedom 2.0, and Skull Wings skew toward the classic biker aesthetic favored by men. Solid finishes like Hi-Gloss Black, Dull Black, and Grey Carbon Fiber are universally popular across all rider types.
The extended size range — from 3XS through 4XL on the Skull Cap — means youth riders, petite riders, and larger riders all have access to the same DOT-certified safety in a proportionate fit. The three-shell-size system used in the Skull Cap is specifically designed to eliminate the poor proportioning that plagues single-shell helmets at the extreme ends of the size range.
Daytona Helmet Sizes — From 3XS to 4XL
Proper helmet fit is a safety issue, not just a comfort issue. A helmet that sits too loosely will not protect you in a fall the way a well-fitted one does, and a helmet that is too tight creates pressure points that make every ride a misfortune. Daytona solves this with one of the widest helmet size ranges in the market.
The Daytona Skull Cap runs from 3XS through 4XL, covering virtually every adult and youth head size. The three-shell-size construction ensures that your helmet's profile looks proportionate, whether you are wearing an XS or a 3XL — unlike budget helmets that put a tiny head in a large shell and call it "fits all."
If you are unsure of your size, measure the circumference of your head approximately one inch above your eyebrows with a soft tape measure. Match that measurement to Daytona's sizing chart available on each product page. When in doubt between two sizes, size down — a slightly snug new helmet will break in to a perfect fit; a loose helmet will not improve.
How Daytona Helmets Meet U.S. DOT Safety Standards
Every DOT-certified Daytona helmet in our collection meets or exceeds FMVSS 218, the federal motor vehicle safety standard set by the U.S. Department of Transportation. To earn DOT certification, a helmet must pass four core tests: impact attenuation (how well the liner absorbs crash energy), penetration resistance (resistance to sharp object penetration through the shell), retention system strength (how well the chin strap holds under load), and peripheral vision clearance.
Daytona's certification is not cosmetic. The Skull Cap — despite being one of the smallest and lightest DOT helmets ever produced — passes the same impact and penetration tests as much larger, heavier helmets. The C6 and Viper carry an additional layer of internationally recognized testing through ECE certification, confirming their safety performance under the European conformity standard as well.
Every DOT-approved Daytona helmet you purchase at Daniel Smart Mfg is road-legal in all 50 states. Ride with peace of mind knowing your head protection meets the real requirements set by the United States federal government.
Frequently Asked Questions About Daytona Helmets
What is the difference between the Daytona Skull Cap and the Daytona Cruiser?
The Skull Cap is a half shell (1/2 shell) helmet that covers only the top and back of the head, while the Cruiser is a 3/4 open-face helmet that extends down over the sides of the head and provides more coverage around the ears and lower skull. Both are DOT certified. The Skull Cap is the lighter, more minimal choice preferred by traditional biker riders, while the Cruiser offers greater coverage without a chin bar.
Are Daytona helmets DOT certified?
Yes. Every helmet in the Daytona line sold at Daniel Smart Mfg meets or exceeds U.S. Department of Transportation FMVSS 218 safety standards. The C6 and Viper models also hold ECE (European Conformity) dual certification, making them among the most rigorously tested helmets in the lineup.
What helmet sizes do Daytona helmets come in?
The Daytona Skull Cap is available from 3XS through 4XL — one of the broadest size ranges on the market. Three shell sizes ensure proportionate fit across the full range, not just a single oversized shell stretched to fit all sizes.
Which Daytona helmet is best for highway and long-distance riding?
The Daytona C6 is the top choice for highway and long-distance touring. Its carbon fiber shell delivers the lightest full-face construction in the lineup, reducing neck fatigue on extended rides. The dual DOT + ECE certification and aerodynamic full-face profile make it ideal for high-speed road use. The Daytona Glide is the runner-up — its flip-up modular design offers full highway coverage with the added convenience of easy access during stops.
Is the Daytona Glide compatible with Bluetooth communication systems?
Yes. The Daytona Glide is designed with Bluetooth-ready cut-outs, allowing you to install most major motorcycle communication systems without modification. It is the preferred choice for group riders and commuters who need to stay connected while keeping full helmet protection.
What is the difference between DOT and ECE helmet certification?
DOT (U.S. Department of Transportation) certification is the U.S. federal standard under FMVSS 218, required for street-legal helmet use in all 50 states. ECE (European Conformity) is the European safety standard applied in over 50 countries. Helmets carrying both certifications, like the Daytona C6 and Viper, have been tested and passed under two independent safety frameworks, a meaningful indicator of higher tested performance.
Are Daytona helmets good for Harley-Davidson and cruiser riders?
Absolutely. Daytona helmets were designed with the cruiser and chopper rider in mind. The Skull Cap's slim-line half shell profile was specifically engineered to give that classic biker look — proportionate, low-profile, and clean — while still passing federal DOT safety standards. The wide range of graphics and finishes, including metal flake options and biker-culture graphic designs, makes Daytona a natural match for Harley, chopper, and custom cruiser riders.
Do Daytona helmets come with a visor?
It depends on the model and variant. The Skull Cap is available with or without a removable snap-on mini scoop visor — visor-included variants are noted in the product title. The Cruiser includes a visor as standard. The Glide features a full dual visor system. Always check the individual product listing for visor details.
